Seat 46K – Jayne’s Story

This is such a wonderful and original idea.

I’m travelling alone today to visit my daughter, her husband, and my two grandchildren. They moved to L.A. in February 2019 to join a large church in Santa Monica, with the intention of doing a 'church plant' elsewhere in the future.

It’s an amazing opportunity for them, and I’m extremely proud of them although I do miss them terribly.

Enjoy reading the content of this book and have a great time in L.A.

— Jayne

Hi Jayne,

Reading your note reminded me so much of my own mum. She also travels on planes just to see her grandchildren, and I know how much it means to her to watch them grow, even if it’s just for a short time. Those long journeys can feel tiring, but the moment you’re with your family, all the miles are worth it.

It’s such a powerful reminder that love makes us move across cities, oceans, even whole continents and when we finally arrive, we’re not just visiting; we’re collecting moments of gratitude that stay with us forever.

Sometimes, supporting those we love means letting them go further than we’d like. It’s the paradox of love: we want to hold close, yet we also want them to soar and in those moments of distance, we’re reminded that connection isn’t always about proximity, it’s about presence. A phone call, a letter, or simply holding them in your thoughts.

Many of us carry this same feeling, proud of someone we love, yet quietly wishing they were closer. It’s not a sign of weakness, but of love that is both deep and real.

Do you know this feeling too? Have you ever celebrated someone’s dream while missing their presence?
