Mark’s Story: A Dream to LA

Some Journeys Are About More Than Just Travel

LONDON - LOS ANGELES

Hi, I’m Mark and I’m heading to Los Angeles for the first time it’s something I’ve dreamed of my whole life tbh. Growing up in a small town in the UK, L.A. always felt like a place from the movies, palm trees, beaches, bright lights, and obviously the famous Hollywood sign up in the hills. I guess a world away from the quiet streets I’ve always known.

I’m now 35, and I’ve finally decided to go. No real set plans, but do have friends who live there to meet– just a backpack and a heart full of excitement. I’ve always wanted to hike up to the sign, see the city from above, and take it all in. Maybe I’ll end up staying, maybe I won’t. But at least I’ll have given it a go. Who knows? This trip might be a new beginning.

Some Journeys Are About More Than Just Travel

Hi Mark,

Your story really resonated with me. I just wanted to say, I see you. That feeling of chasing a place that always felt larger than life, stepping out of your comfort zone and into the unknown… it’s a mix of thrill and fear, isn’t it?

I’ve done a few solo trips myself. I went to Chicago. Not because I was chasing adventure exactly, but because I needed to prove something to me. That I could break through the fear. That I could find peace in my own company. That healing was possible if I just gave myself the space. And honestly? Those trips changed me in quiet and powerful ways. Not overnight, but definitely over time.

That’s why your story means a lot. You’re doing something so many people dream about but never find the courage for. You’re choosing the unknown over the safe. Even if LA doesn’t turn out to be what you imagined, the version of you that said yes to this he's already growing.

So, I hope this city welcomes you with open arms. But more than that, I hope you find pieces of yourself you didn’t know were missing. Safe travels, Mark. You’ve already done something amazing!
